About the producers

Bruce Beil

Northwest Entertainment Foundation / Symbiant Entertainment

Executive Producer

Bruce’s passion for electronic music began in 1995 when he was first introduced to the cultural phenomena known as “the party scene.”  Over the next few years, he was a devoted regular of electronic events, while focusing other attention towards his business education.

With support from some of his likeminded friends, Bruce founded Symbiant Productions in 1999, which later expanded to become Symbiant Entertainment in 2001. Since this time, Symbiant has been behind a variety of events including: Atlantis, Skool Daze, Eclipse, Rave Victoria “Freaks,” Motion club series and many more.  Maintaining focus on exciting music events such as VEMF will always be a top priority for Symbiant Entertainment.

Always eager to take on new challenges and event opportunities, Bruce has expanded his production experience to include: coordinating and managing trade shows, tournaments, festivals, arena & club events, and most notably VEMF.  Among all the events he is involved with, Bruce confidently states, “VEMF is my most passionate and favorite event to produce.”  His donation of hundreds of hours towards the organization and implementation of VEMF is rewarded by the amazing event that transpires.  Bruce takes great pride in being a part of this exciting event and looks forward to many more years to come.

As one of the primary event organizers for VEMF, Bruce’s duties include: event coordination, management, booking agent, sponsorship liaison and more.  Recognizing the communal effort that is required to produce this event, Bruce is extremely thankful for the contributions made from friends, industry partners, sponsors, artists and volunteers.  This combined effort is integral in making VEMF a reality and special thanks goes out to all these businesses and individuals.

Jason Guile

 General Manager

A relative newcomer to Victoria’s music community, Jason has quickly become one of the scene’s most committed members.  Deeply passionate about music and dance, Jason speaks often of the relationship between music and relatedness, clear that our interconnectivity is greatly empowered by our sharing dance floors together.  This philosophy is greatly visible through Jason’s various involvements in VEMF, Earthdance Festival, Soundwave, Tribe Productions & his newly formed Sunset Collaborations project

Jason’s primary music project is Victoria’s only all-night dance venue, the Sunset Room.  Operating since 2007, this intimate waterfront arts & music venue has become a mainstay in Victoria’s dance community and a hub for DJs and dancers alike having hosted over 100 dance events in the last year and over 100 different DJs so far in 2010!  Watch for VEMF’s infamous afterparties at this location.

With 4 years music involvement and over a decade in event production & business development experience, VEMF Is grateful for the addition of Jason’s leadership & creativity.

Chelsie Kadgien

Volunteer Coordinator

Chelsie was first drawn into the electronic music scene on Vancouver Island over a decade ago through a love of dance, movement and rhythm. Over the past 10 years she first became more personally involved in the scene through her work as volunteer coordinator for a local non-profit organization dedicated to providing health and safety information to youth in the community. During this time she also built experience working as a front of house supervisor for the Royal McPherson Theatres Society and volunteering as a venue coordinator for the Victoria Jazz Society's JazzFest. As such, stepping into a role as volunteer coordinator for the Victoria Electronic Music Festival in 2008 was a natural progression for her.

Chelsie is a big believer in the importance of community and teamwork, and gets a lot of personal satisfaction from her volunteer work within the Vancouver Island electronic music scene. She considers her work with VEMF a labour of love; a gift to everyone who enjoys electronic music on Vancouver Island. In addition to that, she loves helping to bring the energy and magic of the scene to the wider community in Victoria over the weekend of the festival.

As volunteer coordinator, Chelsie's role includes liaising with VEMF management staff to determine the staffing needs of the festival, processing volunteer applications, leading volunteer orientations pre-show, scheduling, acting as a point of contact for volunteers both pre-show and on-site. Chelsie is extremely proud of her work with the festival and looks forward to continuing and expanding her role within it in the years to come.
